Just when I thought the menace of costumed vigilantes couldn't get any worse, now they're invading our toy stores! That's right, folks, I'm talking about the so-called "X-Men Marvel Legends Wolverine X-Treme 6-Inch Action Figure." As if we needed another reminder of these unaccountable mutants running amok in our streets!
But I've got to hand it to Hasbro - and it pains me to say this - they've outdone themselves with the craftsmanship on this little troublemaker. The attention to detail is, dare I say, impressive. It's like they've shrunk down that adamantium-clawed menace and put him right on your shelf!
Now, don't get me wrong. This Wolverine character? He's everything that's wrong with these so-called "heroes." A loner with violent tendencies, answering to no one but himself. And yet, this 6-inch figure captures his rebellious attitude perfectly. The poseable head, arms, and legs allow you to recreate all sorts of vigilante poses - not that I'm encouraging that, mind you!
I hate to admit it, but the quality of this figure is leagues ahead of other superhero merchandise. The premium design and four accessories, including alternate hands, make it a collector's item that even I can't deny the appeal of. It's almost enough to make you forget you're idolizing a dangerous mutant! Almost.
Look, if you're going to waste your hard-earned money on superhero toys, you might as well get the best. And as much as it kills me to say it, this Wolverine figure is top-notch. Just remember, folks: it's all fun and games until a real mutant shows up in your neighborhood!
For those of you with more sense than to idolize these costumed troublemakers, Hasbro's got a whole line of these 6-inch Marvel Legends X-Men figures. Nightcrawler, Gambit, Cyclops - the whole motley crew. Not that I'm recommending them, mind you!
So there you have it, citizens. A begrudging thumbs up for the craftsmanship, but a stern warning about the message. And remember: a real hero doesn't need claws or a costume - just a good, old-fashioned American work ethic!
