"Shadow of a Dark Lord" - Darth Vader's presence looms.
Princess Leia manages to escape from the suite where Simon Greyshade had been holding her captive. She quickly locates Luke Skywalker, who has recovered from his trance-like state. Luke explains that his trance was triggered by a brief moment of connecting with someone else's mind through the Force. He suspects that the person he connected with is none other than Darth Vader, someone incredibly powerful in the Force.
Meanwhile, Greyshade is engaged in a meeting with his new partner, Commander Strom, the administrator of The Wheel. Little does he know that Strom has secretly sent the Wheel Security Force to subdue his own troops and retrieve the stolen money.
As Han Solo prepares to participate in The Big Game, he realizes that Chewbacca is also a contestant. According to the rules, only one can survive.
On the planet Ultaar, Darth Vader discovers the remains of a Rebel information retrieval team that had been annihilated by the bounty hunter Beilert Valance. Vader comes to the realization that Valance is also on the hunt for the same person he seeks: the boy responsible for destroying the Death Star I. The race is on to find him first.
