Story Synopsis
Nancy Drew embarks on a journey to France to solve the enigma of a friend's recurring, terrifying dream involving a mysterious flight of 99 steps. Before even departing the United States, Nancy receives a chilling warning from a man calling himself "Monsieur Neuf" (Mr. Nine), who tells her to abandon her mission.
Upon arriving in Paris with her cousins Bess Marvin and George Fayne, Nancy joins her father, attorney Carson Drew, who is investigating a case of financial blackmail against the wealthy financier Monsieur Leblanc. Nancy soon discovers that the two mysteries are inextricably linked to the 99 steps and a mysterious antagonist. The trail of clues leads the girls from the bustling streets of Paris to the romantic chateau country of the Loire Valley.
